Clinical counseling and coaching serve different purposes. Therapy focuses on assessing, diagnosing, and treating mental health concerns, emotional distress, trauma, and other symptoms that may be impacting daily functioning. Coaching, on the other hand, is future-focused and designed to help individuals who are functioning well, but want support achieving specific goals, building new skills, improving relationships, preventing burnout, or creating meaningful life changes. From a prevention perspective, coaching can help clients develop self-awareness, resilience, healthy boundaries, and sustainable habits before stress, overwhelm, or life challenges escalate into more significant emotional or mental health concerns.
